This month has been pretty full with plans – plans that are a little low-key, possibly, but ones that I have found very helpful. I have had a lot of problems recently with feeling connected to the people in my life. I know they’re there, but sometimes it’s hard to get together, or sit down and have a good talk, or feel emotionally connected when everyone’s so busy. So I guess this month has been really helpful in getting me to feel close to the most important people in my life.
Disenchanted: One of my best friends, Christine, asked me one night if I wanted to go see this “Disney princesses gone wrong” musical with her. It ended up being a lot better than I expected, and we had SUCH a great time laughing at this ultra-woman-power musical (check out my review here).
Michelle’s first hockey game: Yup. You read that right. I’m Canadian, and I’ve never been to a hockey game in my 25 years of life. So my boyfriend Luke got some tickets to a local game, and we went with our friends to watch our team get destroyed. I’ve actually never been to a sports game in my life, not just hockey – but anything, so it was quite an experience to see the crowd. But I had a lot of fun and hope we can do this again this winter!
Musing Wallflower: This month I renovated my blog! Instead of being just a book blog, I wanted to expand what I write about, so I added style, beauty, and daily life sort of posts to this page. I’ve enjoyed blogging a lot more this past month, which means more content for you guys, and I get to enjoy what I’m doing, so it’s win-win!
Dinner with my sister: Guys. I live with my sister. We essentially share a room. We hang out all the time. Yet we rarely go out and do stuff together – so when we got a chance to go out for drinks and dinner, and sit down and have a good talk, it was just a really nice change of pace for us. Also yes, that is a waffle in my milkshake. And yes, it was freakin’ delicious.
Photo with Santa: I haven’t done this since I was nine. That was when I sort of grew out of the Santa thing. But Luke thought it would be cute. What a sweetheart. It ended up not being that bad – I’m just really nervous around strangers, and mall Santa was sort of scary, but we talked about getting my vacation for Christmas, so that was nice. And now I have this photo sitting on my desk at work.
Birthday drinks: One of my other best friends, Nikki, celebrated her birthday this month, and since our original birthday plans got re-scheduled to next year, we went for drinks and dinner instead! It was so nice getting to sit and chat like, literally all night. We haven’t done that in a long time.
Work dinner party: Luke had his work holiday dinner party this past weekend, and I was invited. This is the first time I’d be meeting all of his co-workers that I hear so much about all the time, so that was kind of scary, but they were all super nice, and I think I gave off a good first impression. Wine, yummy food, dressing up and lots of laughs. Yeah, it was a good night.
Overall, November’s plans were fairly typical – drinks, dinners, some exciting outings – but they all meant a great deal to me.
I honestly cannot wait to write my December 2016 post, because I have a TON of Christmas and holiday plans lined up already. Christmas isn’t really my favourite time of the year, but I have great friends and a super boyfriend, and they’re going to get me out of the house this month quite a bit!
